- Thursday, 01 December 2011 08:16
Bataillon d'Intervention Rapide won Cameroon’s Rugby Cup after beating Taureau of Yaoundé on the very tight score of 13 to 11.
The very young BIR team (founded in 2010) thus participated in its 1st final, after having eliminated YUC 8 to 7 in the Semis. Taureau of Yaoundé outplayed Gladiators 13 to 3.
The Cameroonian Rugby Union mentioned that the planned format for Cameroon's 2011Cup allowed the direct qualification of the elite’s best eight clubs in the quarter-finals and stressed that in the other major competition, for this 2011 sports’ year, Taureau was crowned champion last 28 May at Yassa’s Stadium after beating Douala’s Gladiators.
For the 2011-2012 season, special emphasis will be put on existing structures' capacity reinforcement in order to fulfill the supporters’ expectations.
