The South African Cecil Afrika has been voted best Sevens Rugby player of the year by IRB during the IRB Awards that took place on 24th October in Auckland, New Zealand.
At 23, the stand-off half has had an exceptional season, with a total of 40 tries and 385 points scored in 2010/2011, especially since he was absent for 2 tournaments due to injury.
His coach Paul Treu describes him as ‘the heart and soul’ of the African Sevens Rugby team. Still injured, Cecil Afrika hopes to have recovered in a month time for the beginning of the new season in Australia.
