The Senegal championship resumes as from Friday, no longer with 7 First Division teams but 8 since the Aigles de Yeumbeul’s promotion, last season’s D2 champions.
The main issue this year will be to know who will be able to upset the Diambars’ team, title-holders, who have been ruling supreme over the championship for the last 4 years.
To be noted is the appearance of a new formation, the Tigres de Ouakam founded on the basis of the Tigres de BIMA, forced to its dissolution after the departure of the French Forces based in Senegal. For its part, ASFA (Armed Forces Sports Association) enters 2 teams this year.
Four matches are scheduled on this 1st day at the Iba Mar Diop Stadium:
Friday 14 October at 20:00 at Iba Mar Diop: Diambars-Caïmans.
Saturday 15 October at 15:00 h at Iba Mar Diop: Requins-ASFA 2; at 17:00: Tigres of Ouakam-Yeumbeul.
Sunday 16 october at 10:00 at the Iba Mar Diop Stadium: S'en Fout le Score-ASFA 1.
The opening of the championship will be done in the presence of Hervé Dubès, French ex-international referee and presently IRB Trainer, who has come to Dakar for 5 days to launch the IRB 2 Level Referee’s Training for about fifteen referees having obtained the IRB 1 Level last season.
As for the 2nd Division, the championship should resume as from the end of the month, with 5 teams in contention like last year.
