Eighteen Junior Coaches attend Coaching Workshop, the Swaziland Rugby Union held the first "Junior Coaches Rugby Workshop" on Friday at the Manzini Club Sports Ground in Manzini.
Eighteen young coaches were invited to attend the workshop. Swaziland Rugby Union Head Development Coach, Naomi du Pont welcomed the young coaches and thanked them for taking the time to attend the workshop and learn more about the game of rugby. "You have all played rugby and now you are taking the first step on the rugby coaching ladder. From here we hope you will want to carry on with coaching rugby and move on to the IRB Level I, II & III Coaching certificates. It will be a big climb, but one I know you will enjoy"
The Junior Coaching initiative was the idea of Swaziland Rugby Union President, Michael Collinson. "We have many young rugby players who not only want to play the game, but also have the drive and talent to become good rugby coaches. The coaches attending todays coaches workshop have come through the Swaziland Rugby Union's Youth Development Programme and the development team feel the young coaches have got what it takes to go further in rugby and help drive the Youth Development Programme. This was the first Junior Coaches Workshop and we are delighted with what we have seen here today. We are already looking at dates for the second Junior Coaches Workshop and it is hoped we will be able to hold such workshops every month at different venues throughout Swaziland" said Collinson.
