Africa Cup 1 C : 1st day
- Tuesday, 21 June 2011 20:51
2 matches were scheduled, during this first of competition (Tuesday 21 June),
hosted in Yaoundé, the Cameroonian capital: Senegal / Botswana and Cameroun / Zambia..
In the first match, after a first half of good quality, Senegal won by 30-12. Botswana who was dominated on conquest phases and physical engagement during the first half of the match perked up during the second act that was a lot more balanced as a result.
In the second match, as the referee blew his whistle, few thought that Zambia could compete against the Cameroonian armada composed of a lot of players from the Top 14 or the French pro D2..
The beginning of the match seemed to go in that direction and the Cameroonian relied on the strength of their forwards to lead 12-3 at half time. The second act was totally different and the Zambians multiplied the time of play and through their initiatives presented some big problems for the local team. Finally, the match ended with the score of 12-10 and Cameroon won their ticket for the final.
A final that should be uncertain and interesting with Senegal being fully confident and Cameroon that seemed to be ill at ease, lacking landmarks with a rather uncertain game plan.
